School grounds upkeep – Kim Perrelli offered help with the plants for student photos by planting Mums. She was able to contact Beth Woodward, a Pine Grove parent, to take over the upkeep of the grounds to make it look nice.
Movie Nights – It costs $75.00 license per movie. Looking into maybe getting a district license. Chris Kneeland got in touch w/ Brian Forget, who approved it, but the district will not fund it. We will ask PTO and the other district PTOs/PTAs if they are interested in going in on a license together.
New Business:
Fund Requests -
DI funding request - Lori Floodman came to present on Destination Imagination. She is the coordinator for Pine Grove. She helped out on the team last year. 7 kids were on a team last year. They wanted to expand this year. Presently they have 2 grade 3-4 teams. 2 teams 5-6th grade level...need a coach.
Some interest in the K - 1st grade level....addl coaches needed. Barbara Mann - 7th grade science teacher has been helping. PTO helped fund the team last year. It will cost aprox. $75.00 per child. Aprox $1500.00 total for 2 teams.
There are registration fees, $390.00 membership fee, and tournament fees.
RPEF gave $300.00 to go forward to get the membership. Coaches need to be sent to a training class. aprox $85.00 for the coaches training class.
Each team works on a problem and tries to solve it.
Christine Kneeland mentioned talks that took place today at the Adminstrative Council....that maybe it'll rolled into the Exploration (after school) Program. RPEF said that if a student could not pay for the entire user fee, they'd help w/ that.
Motion for $500.00 to cover the cost for coach training and remainder membership fees. Accepted by Amber Quigley. 2nd Jill Bouley. All in favor.
Parent Meeting on Monday 7/14 @ 7pm - where are we? where do we need to go? Looking for kids that are interested. Looking for coaches if we have more teams.
1st grade request for purchase of Weekly Readers - Mrs. Pothier was present to request funds. They are used with the science and social studies curriculum. Its cost is $351.12 (once a week for the entire school year) ($3.99 per student) Could this money come out of the 1st grade enrichment fund?? They purchased writing journals for the children. $114.00 that will be submitted to the enrichment funds. 1st grade will use their enrichment money to buy the Weekly Readers for the year.
Margot Lacey will encourage the teachers to use and update the Giving Tree, so things that they may need for their classrooms can hopefully get donations
from families.
Kyle Campbell/Anne Remley funds request - We approached them after the Aug meeting. We want to support them as new teachers of Kindergarten for Pine Grove. Need more essential tools and supplies.
They do not have a total amount yet. They are still working to get their room set up. Previous new teachers were given $250.00. Motion to give $250.00 to Kyle Campbell and Anne Remley (1 amount) that'll include the receipts of what they've already spent.
Pam Gay approved Joan Petersen 2nd. All in favor.
Magnets to promote THE SOURCE - aprox $125.00 for 1000 magnets to hand out at Parent Info Nights 500 magnets for $55.00. Motion to buy 500 magnets $55.00 plus tax & shipping. Not going w/ the magnet idea at the moment.

$ to order Rowley shirts for Doug @ Bakery - Doug has been selling tee's at the bakery for a few years. Pam Gay picked up $400.00 this week. Asking for aprox $500.00 to order more long sleeved tee's to sell. Doug does have some short sleeved tee's still avail. Motion for $500 was made. Amber Quigley approved. Mrs. Budd seconded. All in favor.
SpiritWear Sale - any interest? JungleWear opens up a website and people order thru there for Rowley/Pine Grove items (tee's, sweatshirts, sweatpants) Pam Gay will run this program.
Purchase of Purell - Purell - needed in the dispensers throughout the school. Maybe have the parents send in purell bottles as a giving tree item. In the past PTO has done a Purell Drive. We'll check w/ the teachers on what they'd like.
Would they like to get their dispensers refilled or get donations of bottles? Aprox $500.00 to refill all the dispensers in the school. We'll ask ACTION Ambulance for a possible donation as well.
Renew memberships for Teacher Websites - TeacherWeb. There are 12 teachers that have pages now. 3 are up for renewal now - Mrs. Gagnon, Ms. May & Mrs. Pothier. Allocated to tech/hard drive account. $33.00 - $39.00 per teacher site.
Ink recycling/cell phone recycling is where they get the funding. Shipment did go out Thursday on of last week, so there will be money in that account soon. Motion to fund $39.00 per teacher: for Ms.Gagnon, Ms.May & Mrs Pothier $120.00 total. We'll wait til October to approve this. We need to talk about how this will be handled for all teachers that have or want to have TeacherWeb sites. We need a plan to fund all the teachers.
Upcoming Events -

Parent Info Nights: volunteers needed - please sign up! Sue True and Karen Dion will have a table set up to sign parents up for CORI's. Parents will need to bring in a picture ID to have the form filled out properly. We'll have a ListServ table set up.....to have parents sign up for that service.
Gift wrap fundraiser - Jean Atherton - packets went home on the first day of school. People input the order online, send in the check. NO CASH please. Make check out to Pine Grove PTO. We'll get products around the same time that the Fall book fair is going on, so people can pick up their items when they're here for the book fair. Need to have a better system on how people are getting the items home. You can go online, pay by credit card & have the items shipped directly to their house. (small shipping charge) Chris Kneeland looked into possibly having items sent home on the bus. Bus company is saying that we can't send items home on the bus.....it's a safety issue. We'll find a place to keep all the boxes. Jean has 4 parents to help out w/ the gift wrap committee!
