5th and 6th Grade Chorus rehearsals will take place at separate times. The 5th Graders will rehearse on Monday, 8:35 – 9:15 a.m. The 6th Graders will rehearse on Friday, 11:20 – 12:00. This performance group is open to all students in 5th and 6th grades, without audition. Students will have the opportunity to earn a badge for participation in Chorus. The first year badge is white, second year is green. Each student will need a performance shirt. The shirts cost $15. It is the same as the Band shirt and the same red shirt that has been used for years, so students may use an older sibling’s Pine Grove Music shirt. Our first concert will take place on Thursday, Dec. 10th at 7:00 p.m. in the Pine Grove All-Purpose Room. In order to earn their badge, students will need to attend the Winter and Spring Concerts and the Festival. The Triton District Music Festival will take place on Tuesday, March 9th. This Festival is a school-day field trip to the High School, culminating in a combined all-district art show and concert at 7:00 p.m. This is a time for the musicians in our District to meet and perform together. The Spring Concert will be Thursday, May 27th. Please reserve these dates, so that your student can earn their badge.
Members of a performance group need to be committed. We expect students to remain in Chorus for the entire school year. Students participating in Chorus learn skills of expression, respect and persistence. Students learn to be responsive to others, and to regard the needs of the whole group. They learn positive social skills, and musical ways to express emotion. The Chorus will be a large group rehearsing specific music for a performance situation. Therefore, student rehearsal behavior needs to be appropriate to a large group situation. Behavior will be noted and requirements must be met in order to qualify for the badge.
